For more than 35 years, the Michigan Township Participating Plan (Par Plan) has provided members comprehensive insurance solutions and an effective plan for their insurance needs. The Par Plan’s team of specialized underwriters understand the unique needs of public entities and are experts on the coverages and services members value most. With more than 1,200 members and a 97% retention rate, the Par Plan is the largest Public Act 138 program in Michigan.
Par Plan members are Michigan public entities, including:
• Townships
• Villages
• Cities
• Water & Sewer Districts
• Libraries
• Fire Departments
• Law Enforcement/EMS
Members of the Par Plan share common goals and needs specific to small and medium-sized Michigan public entities. Through participation in the Par Plan, a team approach is created to meet these goals and needs.
It’s the proactive, cooperative involvement of its members that has made the Par Plan a success. While no two municipalities are alike in their day-to-day operations, combining their unique experiences, knowledge and resources contributes to the fiscal benefit of all.
Whether you are a new to the Par Plan or you are a member interested in updating or adding coverage, the Plan offers balanced insurance solutions for your unique insurance needs.
The Par Plan is administered by Tokio Marine HCC, an A++ rated insurance carrier.
The Par Plan is unique in that it is governed by Michigan township public officials. These officials make up the member-elected Board of Directors. The Board meets a minimum of four times a year to review the Plan’s operation and is also responsible for developing and maintaining the Par Plan’s bylaws.
Membership in the Par Plan means having a voice about how municipal coverage is handled, service quality and the future well-being of public entities.
